My Rental Spot Business Site

Work in Progress
Project Overview
My Rental Spot Business Site is a two-sided platform that connects property managers with local businesses through a transparent bidding system. Designed to streamline project posting, improve visibility for businesses, and promote fair competition.
My focus: designing role-based dashboards and flows for posting projects, submitting bids, and handling counteroffers.

The Problem
There was no centralized, easy-to-use platform for property managers to find and hire local businesses. Businesses, especially new ones, struggled to compete and gain trust.
The goal: create a single platform that serves both user types without confusion.
The Process
1. Define
User Flows
Two primary flows were created to differentiate property manager and business actions:
Property Manager: Log in → Post project → Receive bids → Accept or counteroffer
Business:
Log in → Browse available projects → Submit bid → Negotiate or accept
2. Research
Insights
- Property managers value quick project posting, clear bid comparisons, and business credibility.
- Businesses need transparent project details, an easy bidding process, and visibility for fair competition.
- Overlapping site usage caused confusion without clear role-based design cues.
Methods
Stakeholder interviews, user interviews with property managers and businesses, and internal design reviews.
Personas
Jennifer – Property Manager
- Needs: Streamlined project posting, fast business responses, automated communication.
- Frustrations: Managing multiple tools, finding reliable businesses, unclear pricing.

Jack – Business Owner
- Needs: Steady project flow, easy scheduling, direct communication with property managers.
- Frustrations: Competing with large companies, urgent request handling, lack of visibility.
3. Ideate
Wireframes
Created low-fi and high-fi wireframes for:
- Login flow
- Project posting flow
- Bid submission flow
- Counteroffer/Accept proposal interaction
4. Design
Branding & Visual System
- Aligned with My Rental Spot’s existing branding for consistency while adapting the interface for a business-focused audience.
- Emphasized clean typography, high-contrast CTAs, and clear iconography to differentiate property manager vs. business features.
- Incorporated responsive layouts for desktop-first but mobile-friendly design.
5. Pre-Launch Evaluation
QA Testing
- Verified navigation flows for both property manager and business roles.
- Ensured the bidding and counteroffer processes were functional and free of blockers.
- Flagged UI inconsistencies for correction before handoff.
User Testing & Interviews
Participants: Selected property managers and businesses already working with My Rental Spot.
Methods: Task-based prototype testing, followed by interviews.
Key Feedback:
- Clear separation of roles reduced confusion compared to early iterations.
- Businesses appreciated the transparent project detail view.
- Property managers requested more visible project deadlines.
- Both user types wanted clearer grouping of form fields in bidding and posting flows.
6. Work in Progress – Results Coming Soon
This project is currently in active development. Final user adoption metrics, performance results, and live platform screenshots will be added once the site fully launches and real-world data is collected.
